Healthy Living in Sydney - Part 3
Any healthy lifestyle is not complete without a movement routine. I say movement instead of exercise because sometimes exercise conjures up ideas of strenuous exertion and/or pumping iron in sweaty revolting gyms. It's all good if that is your thing but for many people that's not enjoyable or necessary. Instead, if you think of it as a movement routine, it translates to just doing something you enjoy that makes you move your body (i.e. walking, running, yoga, dance, bike, SUP, etc). Bonus if you do it outside and break a sweat. Here are my favorite ways to get out there and move.
Movement
- Walk / run the Bondi to Bronte coastal track. The walk takes about 1.5 hours return and a run takes (me) about 45 minutes return. Keen beans can head on to Coogee which adds an extra (approx) 2 hours to the return trip walk.
- Snorkel / swim in Gordon's Bay. If you do decide to continue the walk to Coogee, wear your swimmers and stop off for a refreshing dip at Gordon's Bay.
- Do anything active in Centennial Park. I have enjoyed many a walk, run, group workout session, bike ride, and horse ride in and around this beautiful green oasis in the middle of the Eastern Suburbs.
- SUP in Rose Bay
- Walk along the gorgeous Harbour beaches. Some of my favorites are Rushcutters Bay to Rose Bay, Rose Bay to Watson's Bay, or around Cremorne Point.
- Walk / run through the Botanical Gardens and around the Opera House
- Do a yoga, TRX or spin class at Flow Athletic - best fitness studio gettin around!
- Do one of the stunning walks around Manly
- Bush walk in the Royal National Park (1 hour south) or Blue Mountains (1.5 hours west)
Hope you enjoyed all the clean and green info on Sydney in this three-part series.
Would love to hear from you if there are any hidden gems that I've missed on these lists as I'll be back soon to sniff 'em out and hit 'em up!
